Going back old school

Tl;dr – I messed this website up when I didn’t renew it, so I’m going back to blogging at my old space – stillamberiam.blogspot.com. Want the rambling background about what I did and why I moved onto this site? Then keep reading!

Hi all!

So somehow between having a paid site, not doing a backup correctly, and then letting the paid site lapse, I’ve lost a ton of content here. I’m a little salty since it includes letters to Charlotte, among other things. I’m working on figuring out how to restore that content, but this made me realize that I want to go back to my blogging roots.

I initially started blogging on a site called ambercanread.blogspot.com. Back in 2014 when I had this idea that I was going to become a full-time blogger, I moved everything here with the goal of someday having a paid website. That was a great goal at the time, and I even managed to get one whole sponsored post during the time I paid for a blog. The payment from that post wasn’t even enough to cover my hosting fees for that year…

Now, because I’m a course and resource fanatic, I have a ton of courses and resources that relate to making money by blogging, but I haven’t taken the time to go through them. This year has taught me a lot about what I do and don’t want to do with my life, and right now, shockingly, being a world-famous blogger is not on my list. I enjoy posting things like letters to my child, seasonal bucket lists, linkups, etc. I don’t need to be on the first page of Google’s search results; I just want to get thoughts on paper (er, on screen) and entertain anyone who wanders through my little Internet space. So, since I’m salty about my own mistakes that led to three years of content being erased, I’m leaving this space and going old school to my original blog. If you’re interested in joining my new/old space, jump over to stillamberiam.blogspot.com and say hi!

Guys Behind the Blog : July 2017

It’s time to hear from Will again! And, not only am I participating in this linkup, I’m also co-hosting! Woo hoo!
Guys Behind the Blog - New - 1
(Funny story about my picture…evidently Will and I didn’t take any pictures of just us after the wedding, so I had to find one that was easy to crop people out of! Sorry, family!)
1.) What is your least favorite thing about summer?
Will : The swampy hotness
Me : That sounds like the name of a terrible cover band
Will : I know what I’m doing next year
Me : Who are you covering?
Will : Not sure yet
Look for our first single to drop next summer…
2.) What is a must have for summer for you?
Will : Any kind of cold drink

3.) Grilling…only for men? Favorite meal to make on a grill?

Will : No, it’s not. You can never go wrong with a nice grilled steak. Wrap some baked potatoes up in tin foil, cook them on the grill, that’s really good too.

Me : I’m going to need you to go buy a grill, some steak, and potatoes tomorrow.
4.) What’s your favorite thing to do after work on a summer evening?

Will : Just relax

This is what happens when Will tries to relax!

5.) What’s one summer project you’d like to accomplish before the season ends?

Will : I guess it would be spraying the fence with weed killer so that can get cleared up.

2.) What was your best memory from this summer?
3.) What are you looking forward to for the later half of the year?
4.) What is your dream vehicle?

5.) Tell us about your occupation…

Life Lately : Volume 5

Hi friends! Sorry for the long absence, but we’ve had a lot going on this month. I’ve missed writing, especially since I had a nice schedule put together for the month and felt like I was finally getting into a blogging routine. Oh well, onward and upward!

    • I’ve got a guest post about making those back-to-school mornings a little smoother over at Smart Mom Smart Ideas. I really appreciate Rachel’s patience with me since I was late turning it in!

    • We’ve moved into our new house! It took longer than expected because of some unexpected issues. I guess that’s life! We’ve got a basement and garage full of boxes and bags to unpack. Kind of makes me regret my hoarding ways. Kind of…

  • Charlotte has had a little bit of a rough time adjusting to her new place. Plus, she’s teething. Recipe. For. Disaster. On the positive side, she is crawling like a champion and doing some movements that seem to indicate that she’ll be standing and walking soon! She also has become super aware of her dog brother and loves petting him! It’s adorable!

Charlotte and Koopa
Why do I feel like these two are going to gang up on me?

  • My husband was recently in a wreck on his way home from work. He was hit head on by a drunk driver who had a suspended license, was driving his boss’ car, and had an open pill container in the car! We’re so fortunate and grateful that Will walked away with only scrapes and bruises. Please, please, please don’t drive under the influence. Call a friend, a ride sharing service, or even your local sheriff’s department for a safe ride home.

This isn’t even the extent of the damage. He definitely had a guardian angel that night.

    • In the midst of all of the moving and wreck craziness, I turned 34! It’s so odd that I’m only a year from my mid-thirties. I’ve got a lot of goals for this year!

  • One of my goals should include staying away from Dunkin Donuts. Our new place is a two minute drive from DD, and one of the morning employees knows our coffee order. I’m both ashamed and proud of this.

What’s new in your life lately?

Currently : July 2017

Documenting : House changes! I’ve got a “before and after” post scheduled for early August, and I can’t wait to share the progress.

Accomplishing : House changes…yep, same answer twice in a row. #creative #original

Enjoying : Getting things arranged in the new house so we’ll have a fresh start once we move in.

Reading : I’ve been trying to start one of my reading challenge books for a couple of days now. Maybe tonight will be the night for some reading!

Spending : Lots of money! Flooring, appliances, paint, miscellaneous things that keep popping up. At least we have the money to spend on these things!

Want to participate in next month’s linkup? Join Anne and Shea on August 2 and talk about what you’re currently snacking (on), anticipating, borrowing, admiring, and purchasing.

Guys Behind The Blog : June 2017

I’m behind on posting this! #movingproblems

I’m so excited to be doing this linkup again! It’s always fun to hear from Will!

1.) What is your summer beverage of choice?
Iced coffee, water, or a cold beer
2.) The ocean…are you a fan or not?  Why? Why not?
W : The ocean’s fun, but I haven’t been there since I was a kid. But, it’s fun to relax on the beach.
A : I haven’t been in a while either, and I would like to go back soon. But you know, we’ll never relax while someone little is with us…
3.) Tell me what the perfect summer day with your family would look like?
W : Picnic in the park
A : Really?
W: Yeah, just nice and relaxing
A : Sorry, I didn’t mean to question your perfect day. That just caught me off guard. Carry on.
W : That’s it
A : That’s it? That’s a long picnic.
W : You know it’s just the whole spending time with you guys.
4.) What was your best summer vacation ever? Why?
I don’t know because they were each different and special in their own ways. I’ve been to Florida numerous times and camped in a bunch of different places. And even the road trip out to Vegas…each thing had something different.
5.) What is the perfect summer temperature for you?
Outside – 75, low humidity, and a nice breeze (three things that hardly ever happen during a Tennessee summer…)
Inside – icebox cold

The next linkup is on July 27. Here are the questions if you want to participate:
1.) What is your least favorite thing about summer?
2.) What is a must have for summer for you?
3.) Grilling..only for men?  Favorite mean to make on a grill?
4.) What’s your favorite thing to do after work on a summer evening?
5.) What’s one summer project you’d like to accomplish before the season ends?
